We have to listen to the child we once were, the child who still exists inside us. That child understands magic moments. We can stifles its cries, but we cannot silence its voice. The child we once were is still there”.
Everyone has an inner child dwelling in their subconscious. Some of us have a happy child inside us, others have an inner child who has been hurt and feels sad, neglected and scared. That scared, unloved or sad inner child can cause uncomfortable feelings and emotional habits that are hard to break.
Getting in touch with the inner child through hypnosis and providing what the child needs can change these subconsicous patterns.
Of course, my aim will always be to go beyond simply assisting the Inner Child to feel ‘ok’. We would want the Inner Child to develop self acceptance, to remember it is loveable and to understand its strengths, allowing it to play and feel free to be creative and to flourish.
You may simply have forgotten your inner child and simply want to get back in touch with the more childlike and playful part of you and integrate it into your life. Life can become too serious and remembering a healthy child self can be very freeing and healing.
How does Inner Child Therapy work?
Inner child work is always preceded by at least one session of talk therapy to gain a clear picture of your childhood and the context of your family.
We will then create a relaxed inner ‘safe space’ for the inner child to be invited into where work can be done in a calm and empowered way, where the inner child feels supported and in control.
We will then work with the adult version of you, in dialogue with the child, and develop a new understanding and perspective about the circumstances of our childhood and replace the old belief with a new and empowering belief. We can start to remember that we are loveable and create a new positive belief patterns about ourselves at a deep unconscious level that will start to manifest into our everyday lives.
We will work together to create appropriate affirmations to use during hypnotic trance to reinforce the positive.
Inner Child therapy is a well recognised and safe process which is often transformative.
How many sessions do I need?
This varies from person to person but shifts and changes are often noticed after 2-3 sessions.
